The tenure of bail and all types of ad-interim orders has been extended for another four weeks because of the ongoing Covid-19 situation.
Md Ali Akbar, Registrar General of the Supreme Court, on Sunday issued a notification to this effect under the directive from Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain.
The tenure of the court orders that granted bail to accused for a specific period and the High Court orders that granted ad-interim bail
to accused on condition of their surrender to the lower courts concerned and the ad-interim court orders issued in connection with the cases have been extended for the next four weeks, the notification said.
On April 4, the Supreme Court issued a similar notification to this effect extending the validity of bail and other ad-interim orders for two weeks and on April 18, another notification extended the validity for more two weeks.
The chief justice has recently decided to run court functions across the country on a limited scale in order to prevent the surge of Covid-19 pandemic.
