A Dhaka court yesterday extended bail to former State Minister Abdul Mannan Khan in a case filed for his alleged concealing of information about his wealth.
Magistrate Md Ataul Haque of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka gave the order after the former Awami League minister appeared in the CMM Court on Monday for extension of bail.
But the ACC Prosecutor Kabir Hossain said that the magistrate’s court did not have jurisdiction to extend bail in its case. However, the Magistrate granting
Khan’s plea fixed December 9 for hearing of the case.
The ACC filed the case against Mannan Khan with Ramna Police Station on Aug 21. He has been accused of concealing information about his wealth worth more than Tk 7.5 million in his wealth statement. The former minister surrendered to the CMM Court on Aug 24 and sought bail. He was granted interim bail till Oct 13.
Abdul Mannan Khan lost his Dhaka-1 Constituency to Jatiya Party Presidium member Salma Islam in the January 5 polls.
