Bail to cricketer Nasir, indictment hearing deferred

A Dhaka court yesterday granted bail to three people including cricketer Nasir Hossain and his wife Tamima in a case filed over their alleged disputed marriage.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain of Dhaka also fixed January 24 to hear on framing charges against them in the case. However, the court did not pass any order about the exemption of the attendance of Tamima, as she is six month’s pregnant. Earlier, their lawyer sought
exemption of her attendance in the case. The court issued the orders in presence of the three accused of the case.
Earlier, Monday (December 20) was fixed for hearing on charge framing. But Nasir’s lawyer filed a petition for deferring the date of hearing.
On October 31, Metropolitan Magistrate Mohamamd Jashim of Dhaka CMM Court granted bail to them after they had surrendered in the court and sought bail in the case.
On September 30, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) said their marriage is illegal as Tamim Sultana, cabin crew of Saudi Airlines still wife of businessman Rakib Hasan.
Later, a Dhaka court summoned cricketer Nasir Hossain and his wife Tamima Sultana to appear in court on October 31.
According to the case dossier, Tamima got married with the cricketer without divorcing her husband Rakib Hasan in February. The case dossier further says, Tamima got married to Rakib on February 26, 2011 and they have an eight-year old daughter.
