The Appellate Division has overturned a High Court bail order for five top BNP leaders, including acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in separate cases.
Headed by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain, the five-member bench cancelled the High Court order after hearing a prosecution plea on Sunday.
Others whose bails have been scrapped are – BNP’s Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, Joint Secretary General Amanullah Aman, Dhaka metropolitan unit Member Secretary Abdus Salam and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal’s Joint Secretary Obaidul
Haq Nasir. AJ Mohammad Ali and Sagir Hossain Leon stood for the defence, while Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Md Suhrawardy represented the state. The DAG said, the Bench made several observations which would be clear once the full verdict was out.
