Bagerhat, S’ganj, Faridpur, Barguna DCs’ ‘threatened’ over election role

Deputy Commissioner of four districts has allegedly been threatened with dire consequences if he does not perform his duty neutrally during the upcoming parliament election.
Our Bagerhat Correspondent reports: Deputy Commissioner of the district Tapan Kumar Biswas has been threatened with dire consequences if he does not perform his duty neutrally.
The threat was issued through a letter which reached the DC on Thursday, Tapan said while talking to reporters on Friday afternoon. He also informed the matter to the police super of the district.
“We are requesting you to be neutral within three days and you must to be neutral or (face) action. Your family, relatives and property will be hit extremely.”
The DC said, “I am not afraid as I have taken all measures to hold the election in a free and fair manner in the district. I am confident that I am working neutrally.”
SP Pankaj Chandra Roy said security of the DC has been beefed up following the threat.
He also said different intelligence agencies were investigating the matter.
Our Sirajganj Correspondent reports: DC of Sirajganj Distric Kamrun Sddika Nahar told journalists on Friday evening that she has got a dreadful letter on Wednesday where unknown someone threatened her giving three days ultimatum for her correction.
In the letter mention that family member, relatives and property of DC was kept in close observation by them, she said.
DC Kamru Nahar has also informed the matter to responsible police officials and security agencies.
Faridpur DC Umme Salma Tanzia and Barguna DC Kabir Mahmud has got similar letter where they were threatened to work neutrally in the election schedule to be held on December 30.
