Bagerhat Correspondent 9 more Indian fishermen sent to jail Some 9 more Indian fishermen who were arrested from the Bay of Bengal within the water territory of Bangladesh on Monday were sent to Bagerhat jail hajat on Tuesday. Source added that the police of Mongla PS with the reference of Bangladesh Navy that on Monday while some members of the navy were discharging their patrol duty in the costal areas of the country by a naval ship found an Indian fishing trawler catching fish near the fair buoy area, 85 nautical miles away from Mongla Sea Port, seized the fishing trawler (FB. Jaba) and arrested its 9 boarders (fishermen). Then they (Indian fishermen) were taken to Mongla (Digraj) naval base and later the Indian fishermen were handed over to Mongla PS at mid night. Retd banker, wife injured Md. Sekendar Ali (65), a retired banker and his wife Mansura Begum (45) of village Uttar Saralia within Morrelganj Pourashava under Morrelganj Upazila in the district were fatally injured when some unknown assailants inflicted cut injuries on their person in their own house on Monday mid night. Locals and the police said that at the night both husband and wife took their supper, went to bed and fell asleep as usual. At mid night some miscreants broke open the grilles of a window of the dwelling, entered into it and began to chop them with sharp instruments left and right. Samir Chakrvarty, owner of the house and a teacher of Chandipur Govt. Primary School said that at the night the members of a senseless party mixed something like seductive with food. The members of the family took the food and fell asleep without shutting the doors. Taking the opportunity the members of the senseless party looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Tk.1 lakh and fled away.Skeleton of tiger, horn of deer recoveredA skeleton of Royal Bengal Tiger and a horn of deer were recovered from the underground in the village Patorpara under Chitalmari Upazila in Bagerhat recently. one Hafizur Rahman of the village said that a few days ago while he was digging a hole in his lobster farm situated in a field, adjacent to his residence he found a 6/7 feet long skeleton of an animal under 4 feet deep from the surface and recovered it from there. Then he took it to his residence where a large number of curious people appeared to see it. Later it is detected by the people that it is the skeleton of a Royal Bengal tiger and it died several hundred centuries ago. Some of the bones of the skeleton were damaged. But its spine, scull, teeth etc. are OK as usual. one Hedayet Ali of the same village alleged that that a few days ago when he was digging a hole in the same field of the village he found a horn of deer under 4 feet below from the surface and preserved the same in his residenceBody of woman recoveredAn unidentified dead body of a young woman (25) was recovered by the police from a ditch in the village Sonakhali within Putikhali Union under Morrelganj Upazila in the district in the early hours (at 2 am) on Saturday.She clothed a black Burkha and a printed maxi. She was in light blackish complexion. It is learnt from SI of police who recovered the dead body that the dead body could not be identified. But Md. Shahchan Mia Shamim UP Chairman of Putikhali and Shahidul Mallik, UP Member of the same union disclosed, a certificate of Junior School Certificate Examination was found in a hand bag recovered from the place of occurrence and according to the certificate, the dead was one Ayesha Aktar (22) hailed from Bhaluka Upazila in Moymanshing district. In this connection a UD case was registered with Morrelganj PS and the dead body was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy.Daring dacoity committed A daring dacoity was committed in the house of one Sanjoy Das of village Ranjitpur and UP member of Khanpur under Bagerhat Sadar Upaszila in the district on Saturday at night and looted valuables. It is learnt from the police that at the night at about 12-30 pm a gang of masked dacoits, 14/15 in number, raided the house, entered it, made the inmates of the house hostage at arms point, looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth more than Tk.3 lakh and fled away after physically assaulting the house owner. As a result, UP member Sanjoy Das sustained severe injuries on his leg.
