Python released in Sundarbans
An 8-feet long and weighing 10 kgs python of Sundarbans caught from a pond belonging to one Jiten Gain of Uttar Tafalbari Village, adjacent to Sundarbans under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district on Tuesday afternoon by the Wild (Tiger Response) Team and was released in Sundarbans at the following night by the forest department, according to a report received here.
Md. Alam Shaikh, field officer of the Wild Team told, being informed of the python over a mobile phone we went to the spot in the afternoon and found the python was floating in the pond (of Jiten Gain). Then we caught it from there and handed over the same to the forest department of Sundarbans. Later, it was released in Sundarbans at the following night (at about 8 pm).
Rubber folders to set up at Mongla Port
Rubber folders will be set up with 3 jetties of Mongla Sea Port for the safety of foreign ships and increasing the export-import. With this end and view Mongla Port signed an agreement with Khulna Shipyard Ltd. in the conference room of the Port on Sunday morning, according to a report received here. Commodore Mohammad Abdul Wadud Tarafdar, Chairman (in charge) of Mongla Port authorities and Commodore Shamsul Aziz, Director (management) of Khulna Shipyard signed the agreement paper on be half of their respective establishments. Mongla Port authorities disclosed, at a cost of Tk 8 cr 50 lakh 71 thousand rubber folders will be set up with the Jetty No.7, 8 and 9 of the port. As a result, foreign ships engaged in import and export works of goods will be able to anchor with jetties save and safely.
Child drowns
A 4 years old child named Tahsan met his tragic end when he was drowned in a nearby outlet of water in the village Janerpar under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district on Saturday afternoon. The ill-fated child was the son of one Abu Hanif Sajjad of the village. Ilias Hossain, a school teacher and paternal uncle of the unfortunate child told, in the afternoon all the family-members were engaged in a post marriage ceremony of the child’s a maternal uncle in a house, adjacent to his (child) residence the child was playing near the outlet and without any body’s knowledge he was, somehow, drowned in it.
Woman drug trader arrested
Police of Kachua PS arrested a woman drug trader named Selina Begum (27) from the village Joshordee under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district recently, according to a report received here. It is learned from the police that acting on secret information Md. Monirul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Kachua PS accompanied by some other police officers raided the village Jashordee at about 10 pm and arrested her from her house while she was selling drug and after searching the house a bag contained with ganja was recovered from there.
The arrestee is the wife of one Ferdous Khan of the village. In this connection a case was registered with Kachua PS against her under Narcotic Act.
Corona infection on rise
Some 40 more corona positive patients were detected out 118 persons during the last 48 hour in the whole of Bagerhat district, according to source of the Office of the Civil Surgeon, Bagerhat on Sunday. But no death report was received from anywhere of the district during the period. Infection rate of corona positive is increasing rapidly in the district. It may be mentioned here that in spite of repeated announcement for maintaining the health care by Bagerhat Pourashava it is neglected by more than 75 percent people the district town.
