Poacher arrested with 59kgs venison from Sundarbans
A poacher named Asadul Zomaddar (35) was arrested along with 59 kgs venison by the Forest Department from Shela canal area under Chandpai forest range in the Eastern Division of Sundarbans on Saturday afternoon. Arrested poacher Asadul Zomaddar is the son of one Jahar Zomaddar of village Bowddamari within Chila Union under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat district. It is learnt from Md. Kamrul Hasan, officer of Chandpai forest station office that on the day acting on secret information a contingent of forest guards led by him raided Shela canal area of the forest and arrested poacher Asadul Zomaddar from there along with 59 kgs venison. But sensing the appearance of the forest guards 2 other poachers managed to escape. In this connection a case was registered with the local PS under the Forest Act. It may be mentioned here that on Friday a contingent of the Coastguards of the Western Zone deployed Mongla recovered 50 kgs flesh, 3 skins and a head of deer from Koira area of Sundarbans.
Rapist arrested in Rampal
Osmn Morol (35), son of one Esken Morol of village Bhuiyakandar under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district was arrested by the police on Saturday on the charge of committing rape on a 9 years old girl who is a student of Class-IV. In this connection a case was registered with Rampal PS. SI Sabur investigation Officer (IO) of the case told, on Friday morning (at 11 am) finding the girl alone the rapist allured her with the assurance of giving her Kath Badam, one kind of local edible shelly fruits and took her into a garden where he committed rape on the girl forcibly and threatened her not to disclose the matter to any body. After returning home the girl fell ill seriously and disclosed the matter to her mother. On the following day (Saturday) mother of the victim registered a case with the PS as the plaintiff against the rapist. When contacted Delwar Hossain, Officer-in-charge of Rampal PS admitted the fact to the journalists and told, just after lodging the rape case with the PS police raided the village Bhuiyakandar and arrested rapist Osman Morol.
Banker killed in Rampal road mishap
Al-haj Azam Mollik (65), a retired officer of Janata Bank Ltd. was killed and unidentified 4 others were injured when his Mahenda, 3 wheeler turned turtle on Rampal-Bhaga Road near at Ransen fish market under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district on Monday morning. The deceased banker hailed from Foila under the same Upazila. Locals said that in the morning (at about 10 am) the banker was going from Ransen bus stand to Bhaga bus stand by a Mahendra and when it reached Ransen fish market it was turned turtle on the road as it tried to save a mentally imbalanced person. Seriously injured banker was at first admitted to a local diagnostic centre. Later he was shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while he was undergoing treatment.
Helper of trolley killed
Shaikh Sadi (15), a helper of a brick laden trolley was killed and a labour named Raihan Molla was injured seriously when it (trolley) termed turtle on a road in the village Kathigomoti near a Govt. Primary School under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district on Mandy noon. The deceased was the son of one Ishak Shaikh of village Naihati under Rupsa Upazila in Khulna district. Mahatab Uddin, Officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Model PS told, when the trolley laden with bricks met the accident its helper Shaikh Sadi and labour Raihan Molla were injured and the locals brought them to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital where the doctor on duty declared Shaikh Sadi dead.
