Fire set on a dwelling house

A dwelling house belonging to one Mira Rani Haldar of village Chandipur within Chingrakhali Union Parishad under Morrelganj Upazila was completely gutted when some alleged miscreants set fire on it at midnight Thursday, according to a report received here.
At the night Mira Rani was absent from the house. Taking the opportunity the miscreants set fire on her dwelling house. On seeing the flame of fire some locals rushed to the spot to extinguish the fire. But before their arrival the house was burnt to ashes along with its all belongings. As a result Mira Rani was completely rendered homeless and the loss of fire was estimated at Taka one lakh. It is alleged by Krisna Kanta Haldar, elder brother of Mira Rani that a strong enmity had been prevailing between her and her 2 neighbourers over the land properties for long. So, out of the enmity the opponents might set fire on the house in a pre-planned way.
KM Azizul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Morrelganj PS told, I have heard the news of the fire incident and sent an officer to visit the place of occurrence. He added, legal action will be taken if a written complaint is lodged with the PS.

Child drowned in Morrelganj  
3 years old Fahmida Rimi, the only daughter of one Al-Amin Talukdar of Adarsha Para in Molrrelganj Pourashava under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district met her tragic end when she was drowned in a pond situated in her homestead on Friday morning.  
It is reported that at about 11 am she was playing on the bank of the pond alone and somehow she slipped, fell in the pond and was drowned without the knowledge of other inmates of the house. A search was made hither and thither, but no trace of her was found. At one stage her sandal shows were found floating in the pond and the dead body was recovered from there.
Ex UP chairman attacked by hooligans
Zahirul Islma Mithu (48), an ex UP Chairman of No.2 Bemarta Union Parishad under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district was allegedly attacked by a number of hooligans out of previous enmity with him near at Madrasa Bazar of Fatepur village within the same Union Parishad on Friday in a broad daylight. In this connection the victim lodged a complaint with Bagerhat Sadar Model PS.
It is stated by the victim UP Chairman who hails from the adjacent Bisnupur village that in the morning he was going to the Bazar by his motor cycle and when he reached near the shop of one Habibur of the Bazar all on a sudden a number of hooligans armed with various locally made arms appeared there, stopped his motor cycle, fell on him and began to hit him with arms. Then they snatched away cash Tk1.37 lack from his possession and fled away leaving him seriously injured. At one stage when he cried out for help some locals rushed to the spot, recovered him and sent him to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for treatment.
Mahatab Uddin, Officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Model PS told in this connection a case was lodged with the PS. Police already visited the place of occurrence and legal action will be taken after the competition of proper investigation into the matter.

32 lakh new
text books
distributed
Some 32 lakh 17 thousand 7 hundred 5 free new textbooks were ceremonially distributed among the students of primary, secondary schools and madrasas of Bagerhat on the first day of the new year 2019.
 Out of them 8 lakh 5 thousand 2 hundred 22 textbooks were distributed among the students of 1161 primary schools while 24 lakh 12 thousand 4 hundred 84 books were distributed among the students of 545 secondary educational institutions (secondary schools, Dakhil Madrsas and technical schools). After getting the new textbooks the students were very glad and cheerful.
