Four pirates were killed in a `gunfight` with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Coast Guard at Shukpara area of Sharankhola range in district`s East Sundarbans on Thursday morning.
Nizam Uddin, operation officer of RAB-8, confirmed the news.
Sources said a gunfight occurred at Shukra area of Sharankhola range between pirates and members of RAB and Coast Guard, leaving four pirates dead on the spot.
Law enforcers also seized 18 different types of firearms and huge of bullets from the spot.
Locals identified the deceased as ringleader of Nayan Group Monir 35, his cohorts Enam, Hassan and Giyas.—risingbd.com
