Bagerhat correspondent accorded Basundhara Media Award

Prof. ABM. Mosharraf Husain, Bagerhat district based correspondent of The daily New Nation was accorded with Basundhara Media Award-2021 as the best talented journalist of the district (Bagerhat) along with 63 other journalist of the different districts of the country in a gorgeous ceremony held in International Convention City, Dhaka in the evening of Monday last (30th May, 2022). He was born in his native village Bhatsala under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district on August 04, 1946. His father was late Al-hajj Abdul Majid Lashkar, mother was late Sakhawatun Nesa. He obtained his M A degree (in Isl. History) from Dhaka University in the year 1969.
He started his journalism carrier in the year1961as Bagerhat district correspondent of the Bengali daily Sangbad when he was a school student. He joined (now dedfunct) the most prestigious English daily The Pakistan/The Bangladesh Observer and served it as its Bagerhat district based correspondent for long 49 years (till its death in the year 2010).
In the same year he joined The Daily New Nation as Bagerhat district correspondent. Besides this, he served Bengali dailies Ittefaq and (now defunct) Puirbodesh and news agencies UPP, APP and BSS. After obtaining his M. A. degree he started his teaching career as a college teacher in the year 1970. He served as many as 6 Degree Colleges including Bagerhat Govt. P C College (1983-2001) and Govt. B L College, Daulatpur, Khulna from where he retired on August 03 in the year 2003 after completing 33 years of his college teaching service.
He is the founder and life member and a former President of Bagerhat Press Club. He was honoured by Bagerhat Foundation for his long career of journalism in the year 2009.
He is now associated with SANAC (Sachetan Nagarik Committee) of TIB (Transparency International Bamngladesh). He served the organization as its Vice-President for the years 2016-2020.
