Bagerhat children being infected with cold related diseases

The number of child patients attacked with cold, cough, pneumonia and other cold related diseases are on the increase in Bagerhat district. Every day more than 200 new child patients are being admitted to the different Hospitals. Medical Centers and clinics of the district every day, according to reports received here. 6 thousand child patients who were attacked with different cold related diseases were given treatment in Bagerhat Sadar Hospital in the last week.
Some 58 patients were now undertaking treatment in the 24 capacitated child Ward of the Hospital till Thursday.
Both physicians and nurses of the Ward are in great troubles to serve the medical treatment to the increasing number of (child) patients. Due to the suddenly changed weather the number of cold related diseased child patients are on the increase, it is opined by the physicians.
Every day children after being attacked with cold and cold related diseases are being taken by their guardians to Bagerhat Sadar and other Hospitals and medical centers of the district for their treatment. Following the admition of 3/4 multiplied number of patients in the Hospitals and medical centers a great scarcity of beds are noticed there.
So, a good number child patient is compelled to take place in the corridors and floors of the child Wards of the Hospitals and clinics for taking treatment.
One Najma Begum hails from Signboard Bazar area of Kachua Upazila told, 5 days ago her 7 months old female baby attacked with cold related disease and the baby was under the treatment of a local physician. But its condition became deteriorated. Then she admitted her baby to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital. Father of a 5 months old baby Asia told, 4 days ago he admitted her daughter who was attacked with cold and cough admiktted the Sadar Hospital. Later it was detected that the baby attacked with pneumonia.
More than one nurses of the Child Ward of the Hospital disclosed, pressure of the patients has increased in the ward abnormally. So, many of them have taken shelter on the corridors and the floor of ward. But we are trying our best to give them treatment with utmost sincerity.
Shahin Mahnud, a child specialist and a junior consultant of Bagerhat Sadar Hospital told, at present the number of child patients attacked with cold and cold related (various) diseases has suddenly increased following the sudden change of weather. Due to this change of weather children sweat quickly and repeatedly and consequently, they (children) are easily attacked with cold and cold related diseases.
Dr. Mirajul Karim, Medical Officer of Bagerhat Sadar Hospital told, the number of child patients has increased suddenly. As a result, we are extremely busy to give them necessary treatment.
