Backlog of women, children prevention cases reducing: Anisul

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq yesterday said backlog of cases filed under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act is reducing as 1,831 such trials have been disposed in last one year.
“The good news is the backlog of cases before different Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunals is reducing. The total number of such pending cases
was 1, 66, 382 by March, 2018, whereas the number went down to 1, 64, 551 by March, 2019,” he said.
The minister came up with the observations while inaugurating special training course for special public prosecutors of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal at Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) here in the capital.
Presided over by JATI Director General Justice Khondker Musa Khaled, the inaugural function was also addressed by Law and Justice Division Secretary Abu Saleh Sheikh Md Zahirul Haque.
