Joynal Abedin Khan :A needy mother allegedly sold her only two days old male baby for Tk 20,000 in the capital’s Jatrabari area on Sunday night. The mother was identified as Parveen Begum, 38, wife of Helal Uddin. But she has been abandoned by her husband for the last seven months. She also has two others children. Earlier, Police arrested a woman who claimed she has bought this baby from a community hospital in Kajla area under Jatrabar Police Station on that the night. She was identified as Fuljan, 55, hailing from Faridpur district. The passengers of a bus caught Fuljan on Monday afternoon when she was travelling in the bus with the child alleging that she was stealing the new born and handed her over to Paltan police. Paltan OC Morshed Alam said: “The newborn baby was admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital immediately for treatment.” Fuljan claimed that she has bought the newborn baby for Tk 15,000 from one Akhtar’s wife at Dholpur. She said that she was going to her brother’s house in Faridpur to handover the child.
