Baby dies, cold- related diseases increasing in Kurigram

The dense fog and bone-chilling cold wave have paralysed normal lives for last three days in Kurigram.
The baby Mithu (2 years) of Kadomtala village of Pachgachhi union under Sadar upazila died of birth-aesthesia disease in the hospital at the early morning on Wednesday while 194 patients including 52 children were admitted causing cold related diseases in the hospital last day, said Dr.Nazrul Islam, Residential Medical officer(RMO)of the hospital. “Of the children, 24 diarrhoea patients and six pneumonia patients were identified.
Hypertension, Asthma, diarrhoea and pneumonia have been increased causing the bone-chilling,” said Dr. Nazrul. Local department of agriculture extension (DAE) recorded temperature 8 degree-Celsius within last 24 hours while the cold is being felt acute in river side areas.
The Deputy Commissioner ABM Azad said, we are corresponding with the concerned ministry to receive warm cloths for poor people while a require letter for 35 thousand pieces of warm cloth was sent there.
