July 30 was the birthday of legendary film actress Farida Akhtar Babita. She was born in Bagerhat on this day in 1953. The actress went to Canada before many days to celebrate the day along with her only son Anik who is working there. Due to getting holiday, Anik visited many places along with his mother on her birthday in Canada. Babita was lively whole the day there.
While sharing her feelings in this regard, the actress told this correspondent over Whatsapp call, “This year I have planned to celebrate my birthday with my son. With Allah’s blessing my dream came into true. I got Anik full time on my birthday. Anik travelled in many places along with me. We ate many interesting foods. I like seeds and saplings of flowers and fruits for planting. My son bought me these for me. Overall, I have passed the day by own way. Anik was delighted to get me close. I always cook Anik’s favourite dishes when I remain in Canada. When time comes to return to Bangladesh, I keep these foods for him in the refrigerator after cooking. Those foods go on many days for Anik.”
Babita informed that after staying there in Canada for few more days, she will go to USA to meet her brother. After staying in USA for some days she will again go to Canada and at the end of this year, she will return to Bangladesh.
Babita last acted in Nargis Akhter directed movie Putro Ekhon Paisawala. Later, she did not act in any other movie. The actress got international recognition as an actress for acting in Satyajit Roy’s movie Ashani Sanket. This movie got Best Film awards in Berlin International Film Festival in 1972 and Chicago International Film Festival in 1974.
Babita got the National Film Award for the first time for acting in Narayan Ghosh Mita directorial movie Alor Michhil. Later, she got this award for consecutive two times in a row for acting in Mohsin directed Badi Theke Golam and Amzad Hossain’s Noyonmoni movies.
