UNB, Dhaka :
Former State Minister for Home Lutfozzaman Babar, a death-row convict in the 10-truck arms haul case, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) from Kashimpur Central Jail for treatment on Saturday.
He was brought to the hospital around 11:30am, said Sentu Das, an inspector of DMCH police camp.
UNB Gazipur correspondent reports: Subrata Kumar Bala, jail super of Kashimpur Central Jail part-1, said Babar was sent to the DMCH from the jail at 8:00am following a court order as he had earlier appealed for medical treatment.
Earlier, on Monday Babar had been taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital from Kashimpur Central Jail as he fell sick in the prison.
However, doctors at the hospital recommended Babar be shifted either to Dhaka Medical College Hospital or Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
Physician of the hospital Abdus Salam Sarker said Babar had been suffering from chronic asthma, back pain, hypertension and stomachache.
