Bikalpaadhara chief former president Dr. AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury terming the present government as anti-people said the administration has failed to ensure security of life of seven persons of Narayanganj who were kidnapped in broad day light and later killed.
Professor Chowdhury said this while expressing solidarity to the token hunger strike programme of the BNP at the Jatiya Press Club on Sunday. He was also critical of the prime minister for her remark that she could not ensure security of people in their bed rooms. Those who cannot provide people’s security, he said, have no right to cling to power. The only demand today, he said, is resignation of the government. Bikapladhara, he said, would remain beside the people in any programme aimed at protecting their fundamental rights.
It is time to throw programme to force the government to quit, he said.

Manna said this at a human chain in front of Jatiya Press Club in protest against abductions and killings. Referring to huge wealth amassed by former truck helper Nur Hossaain, he said the NBR was not touching persons like him. He said those who are behind the seven murder are Awami League (AL) men and those who are behind the crimes are also AL men. The prime minister, he said, has to make it clear to the people who are behind the crimes.
People, he said, want guarantee of normal death. People, he said, want their democratic rights and an accountable government. People , he said, are passing their days in great anxiety over incidents of abductions and murders.
Meanwhile, mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy
pointing her finger to ruling party Member of Parliament Shamim Osman said people of Narayanganj are passing their days in great anxiety and panic following incidents of abductions and killings. They have become hostage to one family, she said adding people want emancipation from such a suffocating situation.
She made these remarks at a meeting at the premise of NCC during observance of 48 hour work abstention by councilors and employees of the corporation on Sunday. But Shamim Osman refuting the allegations raised against him said there was a planned campaign against him.
Ivy said incidents of abductions and killings have been taking place as those responsible for killings of Tawki, Ashik, Bhulu and Diadrul Islam are yet to face any punishment. She urged the people to become united and vocal against crimes.
