The International Crimes Tribunal-1(ICT-1) will deliver its verdict of war crimes cases against Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam tomorrow (Tuesday). The three-member bench, headed by Justice Enayetur Rahim, passed the order on Monday morning. The Jamaat leader was indicted on November 12 last year and the arguments started on Decmber 5. Azharul Islam has been accused of six counts of charges including genocide, killing, rape, abduction and confinement committed during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. The tribunal took charges into cognisance on July 25 after the prosecution filed formal charges on July 18. The indictment hearing was completed on September 4. On that day, the tribunal set October 28 to frame charges against the Jamaat leader. — risingbd.com
