Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan based in India Dr Ashraf Shikhaliyev on Wednesday called on State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury at his secretariat office here. During the meeting, they discussed various matters related to bilateral issues and mutual interest.
Shikhaliyev made a proposal for Bangladesh to use the international North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and the state minister assured him to discuss the matter with respective officials and taking necessary steps afterwards.
The International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is designed for the transportation of goods from India and the Persian Gulf countries to Russia, Western Europe and the Baltic and Scandinavian countries. The main purpose of the corridor is to increase the industrial connection between Mumbai, Moscow, Tehran, Baku, Bandar Abbas, Astrakhan, Bandar Anzali and other big cities.
