TNN , New Delhi :
Samjawadi Party leader Azam Khan on Sunday attacked the Election Commission and said the poll panel is acting at the behest of Congress government at the Centre.
“The Election Commission will have to prove its integrity,” Azam said threatening to knock the doors of the court against the poll panel.
The SP leader, who has been banned by the EC from campaigning in UP, said instead of looking at my sentiments the poll panel is trying to become the CBI.
If EC doesn’t differentiate between what I said and what Amit Shah said then it will be very unfair, the SP leader said.
On April 11, Azam Khan and BJP leader Amit Shah were banned by the Election Commission from holding rallies and roadshows in UP after it took note of their speeches while campaigning.
FIRs have been lodged against Azam Khan after EC’s intervention.
The senior Samajwadi Party leader had allegedly attacked BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at an election rally in Jalalabad area of Shamli district on April 8 in UP saying, ” his hands are coloured with blood of innocent people and you should never let any such person rule the country.”
On April 7, Khan had during his party rally in Muslim- dominated area Masuri area, said that peaks of Kargil were not conquered by Hindus, but only by the Muslims.
