Ayub Bachchu’s 272 songs to be archived by Govt

The second death anniversary of legendary singer, guitarist, composer, songwriter and musician Ayub Bachchu was observed on Sunday. Ayub Bachchu, the founder and frontliner of popular music band LRB (Love Runs Blind), died of a cardiac arrest on this day in 2018 at the age of 56. He was buried next to his mother at their family graveyard in Chattogram city.
To mark the day, Bachchu’s family and different organisations, fan groups and television channels and radio stations arranged several programmes to pay tributes to the legend.
The most noteworthy event was arranged by Bangladesh Copyright Office on Sunday evening, which went to unveil the digital archiving of Ayub Bachchu’s melodious creations.
First of its kind in Bangladesh, the special event was joined by State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid who inaugurated this digital archive at the Bangladesh Copyright Office. The event was broadcasted live on the official Facebook pages of the Bangladesh Copyright Office and LRB.
Bangladesh Copyright Office unveiled a website archiving 272 of the legendary musician’s songs. This is the first time that a Bangladeshi singer’s music is being officially archived by the government. “We unveiled a website and YouTube channel in honour of Ayub Bachchu, where his work are to be preserved. The website initially contains 272 of his songs, as well as verified facts about him,”said Registrar of Copyrights, Zafar Raza Chowdhury.
The Bangladeshi band music legend, mostly known as AB, was born in Chattogram on August 16, 1962. AB started his music career from his birthplace with the band Feelings in 1978. Then in 1980, he joined Souls, one of the pioneers of the band movement in Bangladesh, according to LRB website. In 1991, Bachchu left Souls and formed LRB. Several music stars have also paid their tributes to the rock legend on their social media accounts sharing their photographs and memories with Ayub Bachchu.
