Speakers at a discussion: Awareness can remove Chikunguniya threat

Speakers at a discussion meeting said on Wednesday that public awareness could remove the Chikunguniya and Dengu threat from the capital.
“Chikunguniya and Dengu diseases are infected from the aedes mosquitoes. The aedes mosquitoes lay eggs on clean water in our homes. If we do not keep blank containers, bottles, motor tyers, flower tubs, AC water pots and other unusual pots, the aedes will not be bred. In the way this chikunguniya and dengu disease can be removed from our city,” said Brigadier General Dr. Sharif Ahmed, the Chief Health Officer of Dhaka South City Corporation in the awareness meeting held in the DSCC Nagorbhabon.
DSCC Zone-4 organised the programme. Dr. Mir Mustafizur Rahman, DSCC Health Officer, Dr. Touhidul Haque and Dr. Aktaruzzaman, Directorate General of Health Services, councilors from different Ward of DSCC, Imam and Khatibs from different Masjids, Head Masters from different schools and Journalists, attended the programme.
DSCC chief health officer requested the headmasters and Imams to ask the worshippers and students to remove all the possible mosquitoes breeding hubs inside homes.
The speakers said that the Imams and the headmasters played a vital role during the epidemic of chikunguniya which spread in 2017 in the capital city.
