City Desk :
Awami League (AL) leaders said the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to ensure food, clothes, shelter, education and treatment for the people following the path of Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
They said ensuring food, clothes, shelter, education and treatment for the people were the dream of Bangabandhu and but the killers assassinated him when he started taking steps in this regard.
AL organised the discussion marking the Homecoming Day of Bangabandhu on Tuesday at its Bangabandhu Avenue central office.
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting virtually from her official Ganabhaban residence while party presidium members – Matia Chowdhury, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman and Khairuzzaman Liton, Joint General Secretaries, Education Minister Dipu Moni, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, AL central leader Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya Bir Bikram, Organizing Secretary Mirza Azam, Dhaka south city unit President Abu Ahmed Monnafi, Dhaka north city unit President Sheikh Bazlur Raman, among others, spoke at the meeting.
AL Publicity and Publication Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap conducted the meeting.
Urging all to work unitedly to ensure victory of pro-liberation forces in the next general elections, Matia Chowdhury said AL government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working to change the fate of the people.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said Awami League leaders-activists must remain united under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as conspiracies are being made at home and abroad by the people, who were involved in the killing incidents in 1971, 1975 and August 21 in 2004.
Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General
Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud said Bangladesh’s independence was completed with the return of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on
January 10, 1972.
“Bangabandhu had made a plan to make the country independent in 1948,” he
said, adding, “Bangabandhu had struggled throughout his life for freedom of
the people putting his life at risk.”
Hasan said a grave was dug for Bangabandhu in Pakistan, but the architect
of Bangladesh did not bow down his head before the Pakistanis.
After the independence of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu started working for the
development of the country, but the conspirators did not let him build a
prosperous Bangladesh. Bangabandhu got only three-and-a-half years to work
for the development of the country as the conspirators killed him on August
15, 1075, he added.
“Conspiracies are still being hatched in the country by different groups
including the anti-liberation and communal forces. So, we must remain united
under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to uproot the
conspirators from the society,” he said.
AL Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim said the people of the
country would foil conspiracies remaining united under the dynamic leadership
of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
