Tangail Union Parishad elections: Awami League wins 11 seats, Independent 7 seats

The Union Parishad elections have been completed in a peaceful atmosphere in Tangail. Voting started at 8 am on Wednesday and continued till 4 pm. Members of the law enforcement forces were deployed at the polling stations during the election. In 11 of the 18 unions, Awami League-backed boats have been elected as chairmen. On the other hand, independent candidates have won in seven unions.
Sohanur Rahman Sohel has been elected as chairman of Sadar Union in Basail Upazila and Ramzan Mia has been elected as Independent candidate in Kashil Union. Independent candidate Mohammad Sajjat Hossain has been elected as chairman of Atia union in Delduar upazila. Independent candidates Abdul Quddus Mia for chairman post in Nagarpur Upazila Bharra Union, Abu Saeed for chairman post in Bahuria Union of Mirzapur Upazila, Masud Rana for independent candidate in Bhaora Union, Abdur Rauf for boat symbol in Fatehpur Union, Kader Sikder for boat symbol in Azgana Union. Independent candidate Aziz Reza has been elected as the chairman of Tarafpur Union.
 Meanwhile, Md. Fazlul Haque has been nominated for the post of chairman of Kuragachha union of Madhupur upazila, Yakub Ali has been nominated for the post of boat symbol in Sholakuri union, Golam Mostafa has been nominated for the post of boat symbol in Ausnara union, Abdul Mannan has been nominated for the post of chairman of Mahishmara union Uddin has won the private result.
