Union Parishad elections: Awami League expels 18 rebels in Bijoynagar

Some 17 rebel candidates have been expelled from Awami League party posts in Union Parishad elections in Brahmanbaria’s Bijoynagar upazila.
They are, Delwar Hossain Khan in Budhanti UP No. 1, supporter Bangladesh Awami League, Mubarak Hossain Upazila Labor Secretary, Kazi Fayez Union Organising Secretary in 2nd Chandura UP, Union Awami League, Akhter Hossain Member Upazila Awami League, Ziaul Haque Bakul Convener Upazila Swechchhasebak League in 3 Ichapura UP, Yusuf Ali Bhuiyan President Union Awami League, Anwar Hossain Chowdhury Vice President Union Awami League in 4th Champaknagar UP, Rajib Chandra Banik Treasurer of Upazila Awami League, Md. Shahjahan supporter Bangladesh Awami League in 5 Harashpur UP, No. 6 Pattan in UP Tajul Islam co-president of Upazila Awami League, Shamsul Alam Upazila Awami League, No. 7 Singerbill UP Al Amin Bhuiyan Deputy Office Secretary Upazila Awami League, Jamal Uddin Bhuiyan, General Secretary Union Awami League in Bishnupur UP No. 8, Jasim Uddin Chowdhury supporter Bangladesh Awami League, Char Islampur No. 9 in UP, co-president of Upazila Awami Juba League.

On Friday according to the unanimous decision of the District Awami League, General Secretary Bir Muktijoddha Al Mamun Sarkar confirmed this information on its behalf.
In the forthcoming fourth phase of UP elections will held on 26th December in 10 unions of the upazila, according to the party decision, 10 people were nominated by the party.
However, these 16 Awami League rebel candidates ran as independent candidates for the post of chairman. Despite repeated requests from the party, they did not withdraw their nomination papers.
Therefore, due to breach of party discipline, Upazila Awami League President Zahirul Islam Bhuiyan and Secretary Tanvir Bhuiyan sent a written recommendation to the district to expel them from the party post.
District Awami League has expelled them from party posts.
