Planning Minister MA Mannan stressed the need for avoiding unnecessary project expenditure and misuse to yield better outcomes.
The minister made the remarks while addressing the inaugural session of a workshop under the project titled – “Capacity Building for generating SDGs data with focus to environment, change and disaster management” organized by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) held on Wednesday in its auditorium in the city.
The Planning Minister also underscored the need for adopting austerity in project implementation, said an official handout.
Mannan said, “Money is required to accomplish any task. Necessary expenditure will have to be made, but we’ll have to avoid unnecessary expenditure. The statistics should be flawless and correct for taking proper plans,”
Principal Coordinator on SDG Affairs at the Prime Minister’s Office Zuena Aziz, Statistics and Informatics Division Secretary Muhammad Yamin Chowdhury, Director General of BBS Mohammad Tajul Islam and Deputy Director General of BBS Ghosh Subrata spoke, among others, at the function.
