BSS, Dhaka :Avik Sarker of Mymensingh emerged unbeaten champion in the Union Insurance 35th National Junior (Under-20) Chess Championship held on Friday at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room.Avik earned 6 points out of 7 games to clinch the junior title.National sub-junior champion FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman became runner-up. Avik and Fahad both earned 6 points each, their tie was broken by the Buchhloz system. Avik became champion with highest Buchholz score than Fahad.Anata Choudhury finished 3rd position and Ikramul Haq Siam became 4th with 5.5 points each.Four players earned 5 points each. Their positions are 5th- Abdullah Al-Saif, 6th-M Nayeem Haque of Sirajganj, 7th-Kingshuk Das of Barisal and 8th-Mohammad Sajid Bin Zahid.Besides, Zahoratul Zannat Zisha of Bangladesh Navy emerged 1st position, Fatema-Tuz Zahora Shraboni of Narayanganj became 2nd and Protiva Talukder of Bangladesh Navy finished 3rd position in girls’ section with 4.5 points each.The 7th or last round games held on Thursday, Avik beat Protiva, Fahad beat Saif, Anata beat Siam, Kingshuk beat Sumaiya, Nayeem beat Kowshik and Sajid beat Akib.
