Staff Reporter :
Hundreds of people, including a large number of autistic students formed a human chain in front of the National Press Club on Wednesday, and demanded immediate permanent educational institutions for the victim students in Keraniganj area.
Around 300 people, including both autistic students and their guardians, took to the street around 2.30pm on the day.
It was learnt on the spot that about 200 hundred students of Keranignj Buddi Protibondhi and Autistic School along with their teachers and guardians took to the street in front of National Press Club demanding permanent campus for the victim autistic students.
Saidul Islam, Assistant Teacher of the Scholl, told the New Nation that our school has two hundred more mentally challenged and autistic students. But the fact is that we don’t get better place for the school as most of the house owners are reluctant to give their residence for the school purpose.
You all are known that autistic students are very different than others. These special children generally do some annoying work in the school. Though we tolerate and consider the overall matter as a teacher and staff. But house owners never try to understand the fact. That is why they warn the school authority to leave the house as early as possible, Saidul Islam said.
We have already changed several places for the same issue. We have become now disappointed about the matter.
So, Today (Wednesday), we are in front of the National Press Club to request the government to ensure the permanent campus for the autistic students, Saidul Islam further said.
