UNB, Dhaka :
Australian government on Saturday advised its citizens to ‘reconsider’ their need to travel to Bangladesh amid threat of ‘terrorist attack’ on Western interests.
“Reconsider your need to travel to Bangladesh due to the high threat of terrorist attack and the uncertain security situation,” said Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in a latest advice.
The Australian government also advised its citizens to take additional security measures, register their travel on ‘Smartraveller’ and monitor the media and other sources about possible security risks if they do decide to travel.
“There’s reliable information to suggest that militants may be planning to target Western interests in Bangladesh,” it said. A man was killed when a bomb attached to his waist exploded near a police box close to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday evening. The airport is operating normally.
