Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom on Monday greeted Tigers for their historic win over England in the Cricket World Cup.
“I warmly congratulate the Bangladesh cricket team for its win against England today in Adelaide,” said Australian High Commissioner in Dhaka Greg Wilcock in a message.
He also congratulated Bangladeshi batsman Mahmudullah Riyad saying, “My congratulations also to Mahmudullah Riyad for his century, a first for Bangladesh in a World Cup match.”
The diplomat wished Bangladesh all the best for its match against New Zealand in Hamilton on March 13 as Bangladesh now advanced to the quarterfinals, another milestone.
The US Embassy in Dhaka in its official website wrote, “Congratulations to the Tigers on their big win over England in today’s match in the Cricket World Cup.”
Meanwhile, British High Commissioner in Dhaka Robert Gibson also congratulated Bangladesh team on their win against England.
For the first time in history, Bangladesh qualified on to the quarterfinals of a World Cup with a nerve-wrecking 15-run victory over England at the Adelaide on Monday.
