Reigning champions Australia Women’s Cricket team clinched the title of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Cricket for three times in a row when they defeated England Women’s Cricket team by six wickets in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.
Chasing England Women’s paltry total of 105 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs, Australia Women romped home making 106 runs for the loss of four wickets when they had 29 balls to spare.
Australia made a shaky start losing two wickets for 44 runs.
Then MM Lanning and EA Perry contributed together 60 runs for the third wicket partnership before MM Lanning was caught by HC Knight off NR Sciver when Australia’s score was 104 for the loss of three wickets.
MM Lanning hit a captain’s knock of 44. Her 30-ball innings was ornamented with two over boundaries and four over boundaries.
EA Perry remained unbeaten with 31 from 32 balls featuring three fours and a sixer.
NR Sciver bagged a pair of wickets instead of 12 runs while Jl Gunn and A Shrubsole got one wicket each conceding 13 and 29 runs respectively.
Earlier, HC Knight of England Women was the only batsman who shone with the willow. She hit a fine 29 from 24 balls with three fours.
SJ Koyte of Australia Women captured three wickets at the cost of 16 runs while EA Perry and RM Farrell bagged a pair of wickets each in lieu of 13 and 27 runs respectively.
Besides, EA Osborne took one wicket for 24 runs.
SJ Coyte of Australia Women was adjudged the Player of the Match.
