The visiting of Australia Cricket team expressed their satisfaction over the security measures taken by the law enforcing agencies of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh has taken three-tire security measure marking the upcoming Test match between the visiting Australian team and Bangladesh teams at different stadiums. Members from special weapons and tactics (SWAT), Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Police Investigation Bureau (PIB), Armed Police Battalion and Ansar Battalion have been included in the security team to ensure necessary safety for the cricket team.
Australia Cricket team arrived in the city on Friday night to play two test matches against their counterpart Bangladesh National Cricket team and a two-day warm-up match against BCB XI.
The first Test match between Bangladesh and Australia will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur from August 27 to August 31. The second Test between Bangladesh and Australia will be held at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong from September 4 to September 8.
The lone practice warm-up match will be taken place at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on August 22 and 23.
Two security officers who came with the Australian team and members of the team are now staying at the Hotel Radisson Blu in the city.
Before arrival of the Australia team, a two-member Australia security team arrived in the city. They visited and inspected the two Test venues and the practice match venues and their surroundings.
The high-level security forces of Bangladesh staged dress rehearsal and showed satisfactory security activities for the visitors.
Media Manager of BCB Rabeed Imam said the visiting Aussies expressed their high satisfaction over the security system.
“The government has taken tight security for the visiting Australian cricket team like it was taken for the England Cricket team, that visited Bangladesh and played some international matches recently,” he said.
Ensuring sufficient security arrangement, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the government has arranged three-tire security system centering all movement of the Australian cricket team.
“We deployed the security system in three stages. Number one is the security system of the Stadium. Number two is the security system for the roads adjoining to the Stadium. Number three is security system of the Hotel, where the players are staying.”
“We would not allow anybody to make disturbance during the Australia series. Shops adjoining to the stadium will also be kept shut during the matches,” Kamal added.
