Aussies level series with Tigers

Bangladesh lost to the visiting Australia by seven wickets in the 2nd Test match on the fourth day at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Thursday and thereby the visiting Aussies levelled the two-Test series 1-1 with the Tigers.
Earlier, Bangladesh recorded a thrilling 20-run victory over Australia in the first Test match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on August 30.
Electing to bat first, Bangladesh made 305 in the first innings on the second day (Monday).
In reply, Australia made 377 in the first innings on the fourth day (Thursday).
Later, Bangladesh faced a debacle as the homeside were bowled out for 157 in the second innings on the fourth day.
Chasing 86 runs to win, Australia romped home for the loss of three wickets making 86 in the second innings on the fourth day.
Bangladesh faced an early disaster in their second innings as they lost five wickets for 43 runs only.
Opener Soumya Sarkar (9) was the victim of Pat Cummins when Bangladesh’s score was 11 for the loss of one wicket.
Tamim Iqbal, the other opener (12) was stumped out by Mathew Wade off Nathan Lyon when Bangladesh’s total was 32 for the loss of two wickets.
One-down Imrul Kayes (15) was caught at the extra cover by Glenn Maxwell off Nathan Lyon when the hosts’ score was 37 for the loss of three wickets.
Third-down Shakib Al Hasan (2) was caught by David Warner off Nathan Lyon when Bangladesh’s score was 39 for the loss of four wickets.
Second-down Nasir Hossain (5) was caught at the first slip by Steve Smith off O’Kefe when the home side’s total was 43 for the loss of five wickets.
Then Mushfiqur Rahim and Sabbir Rahman fought back contributing together 54 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Sabbir Rahman was stumped out by Mathew Wade off Nathan Lyon when the Tigers’ score was 97 for the loss of six wickets.
After departure of Sabbir Rahman, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque added together 32 runs for the seventh wicket partnership before Mushfiqur Rahim was caught behind by Mathew Wade off Pat Cummins when the hosts’ total was 129 for the loss of seven wickets.
Mushfiqur Rahim notched up a calm 31. He hit just one four in his 103-ball innings.
Mominul Haque made 29 from 61 balls featuring two fours before he was caught by Pat Cummins off Nathan Lyon when Bangladesh’s score was 149 for the loss of eight wickets.
Number ten batsman Taijul Islam (4) was bowled by Nathan Lyon when the home side’s total was 156 for the loss of nine wickets.
Mustafizur Rahman (0), the last batsman of Bangladesh was bowled out by O’Kefe when Bangladesh’s second innings came to an end.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz remained unbeaten with 14.
Nathan Lyon captured six wickets at the cost of 60 runs, while Pat Cummins and O’Kefe bagged a pair of wickets each for 27 and 49 runs respectively.
Later, Mustafizur Rahman gave an early breakthrough as opener David Warner (8) was caught at the deep mid-wicket by Soumya Sarkar off the ‘Cutter Boy’ when the visitors total was 13 for the loss of one wicket.
Then Mathew Renshaw and Steve Smith repaired the damage adding together 31 runs for the second wicket partnership before Steve Smith (16) was caught behind by Mushfiqur Rahim off Taijul Islam when the Aussies score was 44 for the loss of two wickets.
After Smith departure, Renshaw could stay at the crease for a short period as he was caught behind by Mushfiqur Rahim off Shakib Al Hasan when Australia’s total was 48 for the loss of three wickets.
Renshow made 22 from 40 balls featuring two fours and a sixer.
Then Peter Handscomb and Glenn Maxwell guided their side to reach the victory target.
Maxwell remained unbeaten with 25. He hit two fours and two sixes in his 17-ball knock.
Handscomb remained unbeaten with 16.
 Mustafizur Rahman, Taijul Islam, Shakib Al Hasan took one wicket each for 16, 26 and 35 runs respectively.
Nathan Lyon claimed altogether 13 wickets for 154 runs in the Chittagong Test and was adjudged the Man of the Match.
