Auspicious start for Dhaka Abahani Limited in BPL Football

Six-time league champions Abahani Limited, Dhaka got off to an auspicious start in the TVS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football when they edged past Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by a lone goal on Friday at Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium in Tongi, Gazipur.
Abahani Limited, who began the new football season winning the back to back tournaments’ trophies-Independence Cup and Federation Cup had to wait a little time to take the lead in the match.
Brazilian forward Dorielton gave the sky blue Dhanomndi outfit a deserving lead early in the 12th minute and Abahani maintained the lead till the final whistle.
Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra, however, tried heart and soul to stage a fight back in the match, but they could not convert any lacks of proper finishing.
Abahani Limited will play their next match against Bangladesh Police Football Club at Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj, while Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad KC face Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium in Tongi. Both the matches will be held on Tuesday (Feb 8).
Saturday’s matches: Chittagong Abahani Limited vs Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society at Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj and Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited vs Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra at Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium in Tongi. Both the matches kick off at 3.00pm.
