AP, Berlin :
Augsburg failed to take a decisive step toward Bundesliga safety as it was held to a goalless draw by already-safe Cologne on Friday.
After a first half of little incident, the home side was boosted in the 57th minute when Cologne captain Matthias Lehmann was sent off with a second yellow card for catching Tobias Werner in the forehead with his boot. Lehmann immediately apologized for the high challenge that left Werner needing treatment for a gash.
Halil Altintop made a promising foray forward in the 70th, only to blast his effort high and wide, and Alfred Finnbogason headed the next chance over as the home side failed to make more of its numerical advantage.
