A prosecution witness testified before a tribunal on Tuesday in connection with two cases filed over the August 21 grenade attack on an Awami League rally in the capital in 2004.
Judge of the Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 Sahed Nuruddin recorded the statement of Special Superintendent of police of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Abdul Kahar Akhand, also investigation officer of the case.
With this, the recording of depositions of 225 out of 511 prosecution witnesses has been concluded in the cases.
The court also fixed June 12, 13 and 14 to record the statements of those accused under section 342 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in the cases.
On August 21 in 2004, the grisly grenade attack was carried out on an anti-terrorism rally arranged by Awami League at Bangabandhu Avenue during the BNP-Jamaat alliance’s rule, reportedly attempting to assassinate then leader of the opposition Sheikh Hasina.
