UNB, Dhaka :A tribunal here on Thursday sentenced four members of Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to life term imprisonment in connection with a bomb attack in TSC area of Bangladesh Agricultural University during the countrywide series bomb attack on August 17, 2005.The lifers were Kawser Alam Sumon, son of Abdur Razzak of Gouripur upazila in Mymensingh, Yunus Miah alias Kawser, son of Idris Miah of Basail upazila in Tangail, Mehedi Habib Mohammad Rafiq, son of Kafil Uddin of Iqbalpur village in Jamalpur and Ashraf alias Ashraful Islam alias Sharif, son of Abdul Hamid of Muktagaccha upazila in Mymensingh district.Among the four convicts, Sharif was tried in absentia. The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each, in default, to suffer three-month more jail. The court acquitted eight other accused from the charges as allegations brought against them were not proved.According to the prosecution, the bomb attack was launched in TSC area of the university as part of the countrywide series bomb blasts that left a student injured.
