Narcotics Control Department, Chittagong Metro Unit alleged that M/s H Kabir & Sons , a wine vender company of Karnaphuli Export Zone of Chittagong is trying to legalise the seized contraband foreign wine that were seized from the shop of KEPZ on October 25 last by Narcotics Deptt.
Narcotics Deptt official in a raid in KEPZ area seized huge quantities of foreign wine beyond their import license from the stores of wine vendor . The seized wine consists of 40 thousand cans of beer and 5 thousand bottles of foreign luxury brand whisky worth about Tk.3 crores.
Narcotics Office sources said in connection of seize of foreign wine, 6 persons were rounded up on the spot. It is also learnt that in connection of illegal wine business, Narcotics Deptt lodged a case under narcotics act with EPZ thana (case No.17(10)/2014 ) accusing six persons .
An officer of Narcotics Deptt on condition of anonymity told th at an influential gang is trying to motivate the matter of illegal possession of huge foreign wine beyond their imports into legalization in the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrateof Chittagong which is under trial , court sources said.
