Attacks on poet Abu Jubair protested

Twenty-two poets and writers in a joint statement have protested attack on poet Abu Jubair on several occasions in recent past by the miscreants.
They termed the attacks as an impediment to freedom of speech and also a threat to democracy.  
The statement said, Abu Jubair was stopped by unknown miscreants on his way home from office recently in the city’s Eskaton area and was trying to pack him in a black microbus. As the pedestrians gathered on the spot they fled the scene. Few days earlier in a similar attack, Jubair and his
daughter were also injured when a car hits their rickshaw in front of the Viqarunessa Noon School. Mentionable that on September 2, some miscreants attacked Abu Jubair in Siddheswari area and snatched his valuables. The signatories to the statement include Professor Dr. Khalilur Rahman, rhymester Khan Mohammad Khaled, dramatist Torang Anwar, poet Sabbir Ahmed Chowdhury, rhymester Atiq Helal, child litterateur Ramij Khan, advocate Sultan Mahmud Banna, poet Proshanta Barua and poet Selim Bala.
