Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has expressed the hope that whoever be the attackers on journalists during the recent students protest demanding safe roads will be possible to arrest them by Saturday (August 11).
He announced to provide free treatment to injured journalists, saying that an allocation has already been given for their treatment.
The minister said this during a meeting with the members of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists and the Executive Committee of Dhaka Union of Journalists at his secretariat office on Thursday.
State Minister for Information Minister Tarana Halim, Information Secretary Abdul Malek, Pricipal Information Officer Kamrun Nahar, BFUJ President Molla Jalal, DUJ President Abu Zafar Surjya and General Secretary of the two organizations Shaban Mahmud and Sohel Haider Chowdhury were present in the meeting.
Hasanu Huq Innu informed the journalists that the government is active to bring the attackers to book for punishment.
The journalist leaders told the Information Minister that some of the government and party men told them that those who attacked the journalists had entered the BCL from Jamaat-Shibir. If that is the case, then the attackers should be arrested to make the thing clear.
They expressed anger for not arresting the attackers on journalists yet and said that this could be due to the lack of goodwill of the government.
The journalist leaders also agreed to build the country as per the hopes and aspirations of the Liberation War forgetting all the differences.
