Attack on TV journalists protested, 2 BNP activists arrested in Barisal

Attacks on TV journalists in different areas of the country protested by forming human chain and holding procession in Barisal demanding punishment of the attackers on Tuesday.
On other hand two BNP activists arrested in Barguna for assaulting TV journalists there.
A group of journalists under the banner of ‘Barisal Electronic Mediar Sngbadik O Chitra Sangbadikbrinda’ after forming a human chain in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall at 9:00am Tuesday held agitation procession on city roads.
The programme was addressed by Murad Ahmed, Jewel Sarkar of Independent TV, Firdous Sohag of Samoy Sangbad, Saleh Titu of A S TV, Giasuddin Sumon of Machhranga TV, and Rahat Khan of Chanel 24.
Later another human chain with tied scarf on mouth was formed at the same place by the activists of Barisal Television Media Association.
It was addressed by Humaun Kabir of ATN Bangla, Kawsar Hossain of Jamuna TV, Nazrul Biswas of Channel 9 and president Barisal Reporters Unity, Abul Kalam Azad, president Barisal Press Club, Pulak Chatterjee, and secretary Barisal Press Club.
Participants of the both programmes condemning the killing and attacks on electronic and print media journalists including recent incidents at Mitford Hospital of Dhaka, Medical College Hospital of Rajshahi, demanded exemplary punishment of the attackers.
They cautioned that if the evil forces succeeded to repress the freedom of expression by such attacks, then that will severely hamper the progress, development and images of the country and government.
On other hand Ripon and Monir, two BNP cadres attacked and assaulted Nuruzzaman Faruk of SA TV, Zafrul Hasan Ruhan of GTV, Reaz Ahmed Musa of Desh TV, and Mizanur Rahman of Boishakhi TV during performing duty at Barguna Press Club compound on Monday night.
The attack on journalists were happened when they were covering an attack on BNP central committee member Nazrul Islam Molla and district BNP member Chunnu Molla by Ripon and Monir in disputes over a football match and spreading control in the area. Nazrul Molla was admitted at Barguna general Hospital and Chunnu Molla was sent to Barisal for better treatment.
