OC Jalil was attached to Dhaka Range office, said Kishorganj additional police superintendent Mizanur Rahman.
It was learnt that a community clinic is being built on a piece of land in the name of Qamrun Nahar Jebu, wife of the Health Division Secretary, who died of coronavirus being infected at her father-in-law’s village home in Katiadi. The land has been donated by health secretary.
However, a local group of Awami League backed
by Noor Mohammad MP could not accept the construction of the clinic. Being angry, they launched the attack on health secretary’s house on Saturday. During the attack, they thrashed protocol officer AC (Land) Ashraful Alam and threw him into a nearby pond.
Meanwhile, two cases were filed in connection with the attack and assault. Police arrested three accused at night.
The move was taken after the secretary alleged police of being complicit with criminals there.
The lawmaker denied the allegation.
The AC (land) Ashraful and executive engineer of Kishorganj Atiqur Rahman filed separate cases and police then arrested three accused in raids on Saturday night, the police officer Mizanur said.
The arrested were Mehedi, Kamal and Ataur Rahman, said Katiadi police station assistant sub-inspector Shariful Islam.
Four named and 40 to 45 identified people were prosecuted in the cases.
Mizanur, however, could not confirm whether the arrested were ruling party men and associates of Noor Mohammad, also a former inspector general of police.
