The teachers and students of Rajshahi University on Monday staged demonstration on the campus protesting the attack on DUCSU Vice-President Nurul Haque Nur including other leaders and activists.
Under the banner of “Anti-Terrorism and Repression platform, they gathered in front of the university’s central library on the campus around 12 pm and staged protests.
Accusing DU authority, speakers said, the function of the university is to enlighten the students’ knowledge and the students will remain busy to engage in research activities but this situation now tally different. By dint of proper education, terrorism is spreading in the country’s universities rapidly; they said adding that after carrying out the DUCSU’s activities, several times, DUCSU leaders and activists have been attacked by the ruling political parties this year.
However, speakers also expressed dissatisfaction over the silent role of the university’s authorities. They urged the authorities concerned to arrest the culprits immediately who were involved in the heinous attack on DUCSU VP and other leaders and activists.
RU Physics Department Professor Dr Saleh Hasan Naqib, Arabic department professor Iftekharul Alam Masud, students Mohobbat Hossain Milon, Abdul Mazid Antor, Ridom Shahriar, Mazharul Islam, Mahmud Saki and several departments’ students were also present on the programme while Morshedul Alam moderated it.
