The attacker stabbed him with a machete and fled away snatching the helmet from Joy’s hand, he told our Rajshahi staff correspondent.
Joy went to the Bhatapara office for storing a motorcycle which was seized during a traffic police raid at Kashiadanga on Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj Road hours before he was attacked by the unknown man, he said.
Soon after the attack, he was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital with two stab injuries in his head and right hand, said Anirban Chakma, Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) of RMP.
The incident occurred in three days after a police constable Abu Bakar Siddique was killed while performing duty at Premtoli of Godagari upazila on September 1.
On August 31, a team of police set up a check post in Premtoli area on the Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj Road and the team was checking vehicles.
