Swadhinata Physicians Parishad , Chittagong Medical college unit alleged against the intern physicians of Chittagong Medical College Hospital for their heinous attack on leaders, members of the physician council while undergoing election campaign of coming BMA Election scheduled to be held on December 22 next.
Swadhinata Physician Parishad (SCIP) leaders disclosed it at a press conference held at Chittagong press club hall on Sunday. The press meet was told that the leaders, members of SCIP while undergoing election campaign in favour of Dr.Mostafa Jalal-Dr. Ehteshamul Hoque panel in hospital premises, a number of students and unidentified youths obstructed their campaign and chanted slogans in the name of city mayor AJM Nasir Uddin. Sources said there were a few intern doctors and junior Chhatra League activists in the resistance to SCIP leaders.
The press meet also told that at one stage, one councilor candidate of BMA election Dr.AQM Mizanur Rahman was also tortured physically by the unruly students and torn his dress. In the meet, SCIP leader Dr. Shafiul Alam said after launching election campaign, about 15 banners were hanged inside the college campus but now no banner is existing in the campus. Among others, SCIP leaders and nominated President candidate Dr. Nasiruddin Mahmud, General Secretary aspirant Dr. ANM Mizanur Rahman, central Vice President Dr. Nurul Islam, former civil surgeon Dr. Abu Tayub, former civil surgeon Sarfaraz Khan and Dr. Shdekur Rahman were present in the press meet.
