The Atom Gum-DRU Media Cup Handball Tournament begins today at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder will formally open the handball competition today as the chief guest.
Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) will arrange the handball tournament under auspices of PRAN Confectionary Limited.
To mark the upcoming handball meet, a press conference was held at the Sagar-Runi Auditorium of DRU on Tuesday.
President of Dhaka Reporters Unity Sakhawat Hossain Badsha, General Secretary of DRU Mursalin Nomani, Sports Secretary of DRU Mojibur Rahman, Member Secretary of the Tournament Committee Aminul Haque Mallick, Brand Manager of PRAN Confectionary Limited Md Sazzad Hossain, Assistant Brand Manager of PRAN Confectionary Limited Mahbubul Alam were present at the conference.
A total of 32 media houses will take part in the handball tournament. They are: Janakantha, Ittefaq, Jugantor, Korotowa, Naya Diganta, Ajkaler Khabar, Kalerkantho, Inqilab, Sangram, Manabzamin, Manabkantho, Bangladesh Protidin, Alokito Bangladesh, Amader Aurthonity, Amader Samay, Samakal, Bhorer Kagoj, Daily Star, New Age, Jamuna TV, ATN Bangla, Channel i, RTV, ATN News, GTV, SA TV, Radio Today, BSS, Bangla News 24. com, Bangla Tribune, The Report 24.com, Jago News 24.com.
The competition will be held on knock-out basis.
The champions will be awarded Taka thirty thousand, while the runners-up will be given Taka twenty thousand and the semi-finalists teams will get Taka five thousand each.
