Spanish La Liga champions Atletico Madrid have announced the signing of Brazilian striker Marcos Paulo Costa do Nascimento.
The 20-year-old, who has a European passport and has played for Portugal’s under-19 team, joins Atletico on a free transfer from Fluminense and has agreed a five-year contract.
Last season Costa made 24 appearances for his club, scoring three goals and giving three assists.
The Atletico website informs that the forward, who is 1.86 meters tall, can either play in a central striker role or on the left wing despite being predominantly right-footed, and describes him as a “promising and versatile player.”
It is not yet certain whether he will start the new season in Atletico’s first-team squad, or whether the club could look to loan him out in order to gain experience.
