Governor Dr Atiur Rahman Sunday said more intervention is needed to support the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), especially to the new entrepreneurs.
“BFP-B project will be able to leave its footprint in the areas of framing a conducive policy and regulatory environment supportive to MSME development, and also in introducing credit guarantee scheme for MSEs,” he said while launching the “Business Finance for Poor in Bangladesh (BFP-B) Project” in a city hotel.

He said the mutually supportive program components of the BFP-B program which include the Challenge Fund, the Credit Guarantee Fund, and the Policy Component, will help financial inclusion expand substantially in Bangladesh.
The project will work in co-ordination with the regulators to ensure that the overall MSE lending will be conducive to our broad-based growth objective, added the governor.
“The BFP-B will play a key role in nourishing the micro and small enterprises to enhance their productivity and to contribute our economy in firm- footing on inclusive growth base,” hoped Atiur.
He informed the financial institutions are continuously surpassing their self-determined annual target for MSME lending since its inception in 2010.
