Atahar Ali Khan, father of Daily Star’s senior sports reporter Atique Anam, passed away at the Square Hospital in the city Saturday night, according to a press release issued by Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association (BSJA) on Sunday.
He was 82.
Atahar Ali Khan, a retired government officer, left behind his wife, four sons, grandchildren, relatives and a host of well-wishers to mourn his death.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held at the Noor Mosque in Malibagh Chowdhurypara on Sunday morning. His body was laid to eternal rest at his ancestral home in Kalijira, Barisal after a second namaz-e-janaza there in the afternoon.
In a condolence message, BSJA expressed deep shock at the death of Atique’s father (Atahar Ali) and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.
